Vaginal Thrush Causes

Vaginal thrush is a yeast infection which is mainly due to an overgrowth of the yeast Candida albicans within the vagina.

This organism is usually present in a healthy vagina, but is kept under control by yeast-inhibiting bacteria.

However, if something happens which {changes the pH (acid/alkaline) balance within the environment of the vaginal, the yeast is able to start reproducing out of control, creating the thrush infection.

Here is a list of vaginal thrush causes:

1. Being run down/weak immune system: When you are run down, from fatigue, stress, illness, due to antibiotics, poor nutrition, or because your body is busy fighting another infection, yeast may seize the opportunity to multiply. This is why anyone suffering from HIV can be particularly prone to vaginal thrush.

2. Antibiotics: In addition to fighting infections, antibiotics can kill "friendly" bacteria such as lactobacilli, the very things that keep yeast under control. Antibiotics don't affect the yeast themselves, but, by killing the bacteria, will change the environment enough to encourage candida growth.

3. Diet: Many types of foods have an impact on thrush. The yeast feeds on sugar, so anything that encourages a sugary environment can encourage yeast overgrowth.

4. Diabetes: Diabetes-sufferers have a much greater chance of getting thrush, because diabetes increases blood sugar levels, which can then increase the sugar in vaginal secretions. In addition, diabetic women also tend to have high sugar levels in their urine, and this may contribute to thrush by feeding yeast in the genital area just outside of the vagina.

5. Contraception: Some studies suggest that women who use the Pill have a greater chance of developing thrush, and have recurrent thrush, because it affects hormones that can affect a female's ability to metabolise (process) the sugar that the yeast feeds on. Women who use an IUD may also have an increased risk of contracting vaginal and uterine infections, which can lead to thrush.

6. Periods: Some women will get thrush just before or after their periods. Menstrual blood can change the acidity of the vagina, and, as a result, some women get thrush during their periods. Tampons and towels can also play a part in creating the right environment for thrush.

For example, if a tampon is left in too long (more than about 12 hours), it can cause the vagina to dry out, change the pH balance and trigger thrush. Unchanged towels can also create a moist, warm environment around the vulva, and yeast thrives under these conditions.

7. Pregnancy: Women often have their first attack of thrush when they become pregnant. Dramatic changes in hormone levels occur during pregnancy, which will led to high levels of sugars in vaginal secretions. If these extra sugars don't get broken down quickly, candida will feed on them to grow.

8. Perfumes, deodorants and washing: Perfumed soaps, douches, vaginal deodorants, disinfectants and scented bubble baths can all irritate or cause damage to the delicate tissues of the vagina and vulva, or can change the pH in the vagina. In addition, too much scrubbing of the area, excessive washing or rubbing hard with a towel may do damage. These can all cause vaginal thrush.

9. Sex: Even though vaginal thrush is not a sexually transmitted infection, sex can still be involved in its development. Penetrative sex can create a lot of irritation to the vagina, particularly if there is little or no lubrication. In addition, semen may change the acidity of the vagina which can then cause thrush. Some studies suggest that oral sex increases a woman's risk of developing thrush.

Thrush can also be passed on to a partner during sex, although it is men who are more likely than women to get thrush through sex.

10. Tight/synthetic clothing: Tight trousers, leggings, synthetic knickers or tights will prevent air from circulating and will encourage a warm, moist environment, which is perfect for thrush to develop.

An Online Community For Women - Not Just For Younger Women

With the birth of the internet, the world began to globalize. People began to make communities for various groups from dancing communities to groups for those who love to eat (guilty as charged).

Many online communities have sprung up for women but there is a small problem; most the women on these community websites tend to be younger (ages 15-30) and many older women are shy to join the communities.

The older women are afraid to join these communities. They no longer need to worry: they now do have online communities for women who are older.

These communities are meant for women to be able to express themselves freely without fear of their age being a problem for younger, more arrogant women.

While an online community for women is supposed to for women of all ages, if you ever noticed, most of them are in their mid twenties.

These girls tend to share their stories with other women but when women who are a little older (even by just five or six years old) and they begin to insult them for no reason; they say that their just too old or will say things that simply put are just plain mean.

They feel that women who are older have nothing useful to offer and the reality is just the exact offer; older women are much more experienced and probably could share some excellent ideas for the community.

This is why people began to make online communities just for more mature women; no one should be made fun of just because they are few years older than some girl in her twenties.

Do blonds really have more fun? Blond is one of the top choices for women who want to dye their hair, not only in the US but also in other parts of the world.

In salons and hair boutiques, blond is the perfect choice even if it's just hair streaks or the coloring the whole hair.

While there is no proof that blonds really have more fun, this is the common misconception and belief of others.

It has always been believed that blond girls get all the attention, perks and have better opportunities. This is untrue because these three factors are determined by the personality.

There are also a lot of movies "Legally Blonde" that imply that blonds have more fun and get through life easier. If you think about it, hair color doesn't affect life situations in whatever way.

Other fallacy about being blond is that most of them are dumb and are only beautiful on the outside. These are extremely untrue because the color of one's hair is in no way connected to one's intelligence.

The only valid explanation that could at least explain this is that people who dye their hair blond "have more fun" is because they feel a lot confident. Confidence is a big factor in one's personality, and this will surely motivate you to feel good about yourself.

If there are positive connotations about being blond, there are also a lot of jokes (both offensive and non-offensive) that have been said about the issue.

Famous blonds are Marilyn Monroe, Madonna and Shakira. In fact, hairdressers have looked up to them and used them to get clients to color their hair blond.

Blond hair does stand out, especially in a sea of brunettes or black hair. Pretty blond girls can also get freebies from coffee shops and malls because people just adore them.

If you take the matter seriously, there is no concrete evidence or studies that prove that blonds always get their way.

If a person's hair is colored blond and something good happens to them, the hair color might just be an added benefit.

But the way to deal with situation and how a person's outlook is are the most crucial factors we all have to learn.

The best advice that dealt with hair color is to be yourself. It would be useless if people like you for your fake attitude and not for who you are. The false point of view regarding blonds is just a stereotype that shouldn't exist or believed.

Estrogen - Hormones Imbalance

Do you sometimes feel that your fatigue is something else, and that the reason for having delayed menstrual periods is something other than the possibility of a pregnancy?

Are you worried that not being able to sleep at night is something more than just too much stress? Well, probably, what you're feeling could be due to outside influences (let's never discount that as a possibility), but let's not forget the likelihood of perimenopause.

Estrogen and progesterone are main protagonists for what we now know as a hormone imbalance.

Perimenopause is usually caused by an estrogen dominance and a lack of progesterone. The body has an excess of estrogen because both estrogen and progesterone production in the ovaries slow down considerably.

In reality, a woman's hormones can be nudged off track by a lot of things - stressful events, vitamin deficiencies and illness. This is the time when the hormones grow quite vulnerable; hence, the rampage of the hormone named estrogen.

There are times when there is a lack of estrogen - this will influence the fluctuations of the periods.
