How to Get a Smoother Shave and Save a Couple of Bucks, Too

Warmer weather means more skirts and fewer slacks and that means it's back to the grind of regularly shaving our legs. That's right, the days of "nobody's going to see my legs in these pants so I'll just skip shaving" are over ladies. Now everybody is going to be seeing those legs and you want them looking smooth, silky and sexy.

So how can you get that close shave without nicks and cuts or razor burn? What kind of miracle gel will prevent your husband from complaining about you using his razor? Just in general, how do you make this ritual that all women have to perform a little more comfortable?

Well let's start with the razor. Use a new one. Don't pick up your husband's dual track Gillette and start scrapping away. For starters it may very well not be sharp. If you have a husband like mine who has leather for skin and who feels absolutely no pain, then that razor of his could be as dull as a butter knife. Splurge on a $0.79 Bic and start out with a fresh blade every time.

Let the shower or bath water get good and steamy and then soak in it a while. The idea is to let the pores on your skin open to make the shave just that much closer. And now here's where you save a little money.

You know all those gels and creams that are supposed to make this whole process easier? They're expensive right? For sure they're more expensive than the shaving cream that your husband uses. Well there's a product that is already in your tub that you can use instead.

Almost any hair conditioner makes a super substitute for a shaving gel. Just rub it on and let that creamy conditioner sit for a while. You will get the same, if not better, results as a shaving gel and that means there's one less thing to buy at the grocery store.

The exception to this rule is if you are using a hair conditioner that is specifically for hair color care may cause an irritation. You might want to check this conditioner on a small patch of skin before rubbing it all over your legs.

Not only is this conditioner going to let you slide that razor up your legs like a hot knife through butter, but if it contains a moisturizer you're going to be giving your legs a spa treatment as well.

When you're done simply rinse off and pat dry. You are going to feel fantastic and you are going to look like Marilyn Monroe's million dollar legs.
