How to Be More Lady-Like

Women who are perceived as being more lady-like are treated better in every aspect of their life. Their future is more promising because they are seen as someone who only deserves the best.

It is no coincidence that the better you treat yourself, the better that other people will treat you. It is no wonder that a smart woman can appreciate the advantages to her life of being more lady-like.

Being a lady involves a lot more than just looking like a lady. It is also feeling like a lady, speaking like a lady, standing like a lady and, of course, acting like a lady. It is not enough to only focus on one of these things, because people will rate your character based on your worst characteristic. It is just a part of human nature.

To learn how to be more lady-like is to take an overall approach to all of the aspects of being a lady. Nevertheless, I will give you some tips that will help you take your first steps to being more lady-like.

Tip 1: The Egg-Timer Makeover

Prior to walking out the door, turn over an egg-timer (two and a half minutes). Place yourself in front of a full-length mirror and assess the way that you are dressed.

* Are your clothes clean, lint free and well pressed?
* Do they fit you correctly and flatter your figure?
* Are your dressed modestly and appropriate for where you are going?
* Is your make-up well applied?
* Is your hair neat and well presented?
* Could you improve your appearance by adding an accessory, wearing stockings or putting on a slip?

This egg-timer makeover will allow you to go on your way with confidence, knowing that you look the best that you can.

Tip 2: Wash Your Mouth Out With Soap

I do not recommend that you literally put soap in your mouth. This is an old threat that mothers would give to their children when they were heard to be using bad language. (Some mothers actually followed through with this threat.)

The message here is to watch your language. The use of swear words is the fastest way that a woman tells the world that she is not a lady. Once the words are out of your mouth, you can't get them back. So, keep your mouth clean and make a commitment to only allowing positive and uplifting words out of your mouth. You will soon be seen as someone whom people want to be around.

Tip 3: Your Place In The World

My last quick tip is one which will help you to take a more lady-like place in society. The way in which you socially act with other people is what is called 'etiquette'.

While the endless rules of etiquette can seem over-whelming, by applying the ultimate rule of etiquette you should be able to work out the appropriate behavior in most situations.

The ultimate rule of etiquette is to make those people around you feel comfortable. It is really that simple, but can be very difficult. If you take the extra steps to make people feel comfortable in your presence, then you will have gone a long way to behaving and being perceived as being more lady-like.
