Have you ever been invited to a party and had no idea what to wear? The next time you're invited to a party, wedding reception or other event and need a plus size party dress, take a moment to think through what style and cut of dress you think would look fabulous on you.
Consider what your role will be at the event. Will you dance, stand a lot, have to walk a long ways or pose for photos?
If you're seeking a plus size mother of the bride dress or wedding dress or just need a dress for a formal wedding, you'll want to pick something that will still be comfortable after 4-8 hours. (Comfortable shoes are important, too.) If you'll be in wedding photos, I suggest you aim for a classic look that will hold up over time and not look unfashionable in 10-40 years.
Perhaps a night of dancing is on your mind. If so, a dress that doesn't restrict your movement is in order. You'll want something comfortable and not too tight so you can move and not be concerned about an embarrassing tear.
Once you have your dress, you can pick and choose a handbag, shoes and jewelry that will compliment your individual look and match your style. For a more formal affair, you may want the more traditional pearl necklace. For a less formal affair, you might want to wear a necklace and earrings. Strapless dresses, in particular, look great with chokers.
Returning to the subject of shoes, keep in mind how miserable your feet will be if you pick something less than perfect on the comfort scale. If you'll be standing for a long time, keep that in mind and be kind to your feet. You can last longer and have more fun at a party if you have comfortable shoes.
