The Best Suits For Plus Size Women

The plus size suit and work wear market for women is one of the most limited, as far as selection goes, in fashion. For some reason the choices some times range between big over sized cuts, or some times way to slim and revealing which is not at all appropriate for a career woman.

While some designers are taking more than an earnest step towards fixing this, its easy to see why many plus size women are frustrated with their shopping experience.

The key to finding great plus size suits and work wear starts with clean lines, free of bold colors or intricate details and stitching. Here are some tips on what to look for:

* Keep things as simple as possible, less frills and details help to elongate the body and take away from any added bulk.

* Look for a more structured finish. jackets that are boxier with firm but not heavy fabric matches this body type well.

* Since its common to find many pieces that are over sized, having a great tailor that can fit you after the fact will be an invaluable resource.

* If you are a plus size over 5'6" a boot cut pant will give the illusion of a longer leg when paired with a pointed toe stiletto

* If you are under 5'6" go for a straight cut pant, again paired with a pointed toe stiletto.

* Accessories should be proportionate. Chunkier bracelets and a bigger clutch bag work well.

* Contrasting colors for the blouse and pant helps create a waist line where the two meet, giving a slimming effect.

* Plus size custom suits for women is always a great option as this can help create the exact cut you need with decent selection and variety in colors and fabrics.

* When choosing a pattern look for an asymmetrical one that is proportionate.

* Watch the length of your jackets. You want something that hits at about the top of your hip.

* Do not buy a jacket you can not close. Many department store sales people will try to tell you that its not designed to be buttoned, this is not the case. find one that fits comfortably and have it tailored down as needed.

* Look for a flat front trouser. Pleats add bulk which makes no sense for plus size women.

* Pay no attention to the size. Much of the fashion industry does not run on standard sizing, so do not get hung up on the number. One of the tricks high end designers use is that they make their sizes smaller than "usual" i.e. their size 4 is really a size 8.

This little trick has made women loyal to more expensive brands that they think fit them better. Find the right fit even if its bigger than the "usual" size you buy, this will open up your choices and save you money in the long run.
